About Cross Border
Presenting Network

Cross Border Presenting Network is a borderless network of performing arts presenting organizations that work collaboratively to facilitate stronger regional touring routes between the United States and Canada. This network will enable presenters at all levels to engage with each other and their respective communities in order to build more successful tours with fewer barriers. The network was created in 2020 out of a need to develop more sustainable borderless touring routes between the United States and Canada. This network will support the practice of music presentation and community engagement. Our participants include municipal performing arts centres; not-for-profit, volunteer, community presenters; venues, and for profit promoters.

Cross Border Presenting Network has implemented a digital platform that enables its participants to cooperate and stage more economical and successful regional tours. The goals are to strengthen the touring routes between Canada and the United States and the connections between communities, artists, and presenters on both sides of the border.

We aim to build capacity, develop leadership, and create opportunities for artists and to promote diversity and cultural empathy in communities across Canada and the United States.

Presenting Cultural Work

The Cross Border Presenting Network recognizes the importance of presenting underrepresented artists from minority communities. Supporting and presenting culturally influenced work in a respectful manner that engages all communities is important to building strong and diverse communities in Canada and the United States.

In order to properly support and present culturally influenced work, we are conscious of and sensitive to the challenges faced by various minority communities and aim to be respectful and supportive of these communities when making space for all.

Network

The Cross Border Presenting Network connects performing arts professionals who believe in working together to support borderless touring of live music performances across Canada and the USA. Network participants include presenters; municipal performing arts centres; not-for-profit, volunteer, community presenters; venues, and for profit promoters

Network participants share knowledge, programming preferences and choices, support their peers, and participate in collective coordination of music performances and tours in Canada and the United States.

Through our network we maintain an up-to-date database of current happenings in the sector and the region. By sharing knowledge between participants and updating important sector developments, we enable greater cooperation and coordination between presenters in Canada and the United States to enable more successful and economical music tours throughout the region.

We share knowledge of the presenters programming choices and preferences with other presenting participants within the network to enable more borderless cooperation and coordination between presenters in Canada and the United States. Our network participants understand the benefits of sharing information generously and collaboratively to support each other through common challenges, and to find solutions together to support more successful events and tours.

The Cross Border Presenting Network supports these goals through our digital platform, working groups, and meetings at key events throughout the year.
